Our Charity

As a Registered Charity, we don’t need to focus on making a profit. Any surplus that we do make is directly re-invested into enhancing our services and the support we give to our wonderful foster families and children. We also rely on the support of our local communities who fundraise and make donations, allowing us to continue our work.

The Organisation

As a Charity, The Children’s Family Trust is managed by a Board of Trustees. It is the role of the Trustees to provide leadership and to develop and review a clear long term strategy for The CFT. The Board delegates the principal day-to-day decisions to the Chief Executive, Marina Mulholland.

Our Money

The majority of our funding is received as a result of the services we provide to Local Authorities. A smaller amount of income is received from charitable donations and legacies. Our annual budget takes into consideration the needs of all of the children and young people we care for. As such we provide funding for additional services including education support and therapeutic services. Monies are also set aside every year to help support our young people who have reached 18 and beyond who need financial support to establish themselves within the community and workplace, this might include driving lessons, home furnishings, educational fees etc.

Where necessary the Trust uses surplus monies to provide additional support to children and young people. This can be through the use of internal and external services. Examples include therapeutic and educational support.

At The CFT we have our own Just Giving page. This can be used to support fundraising activities or to make regular one-off donations.

  • A minimum of 85p in every £1 goes directly to improving our services to both our Children and Foster Carers.
