Black Lives Matter.

The current ‘Black Lives Matter’ campaign following the tragic and unnecessary death of George Floyd in the USA has raised issues of racism across the globe.

The Children’s Family Trust is acutely aware of the institutional flaws in our system and the resulting negative impact on the lives of black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) children and their families.

Sadly, we are also only too aware that BAME children are over-represented in the care system as well as being disproportionately impacted by the current pandemic.

Right now, we are thinking of our own children, staff and families effected by many of the issues raised as a result of the Black Lives Matter campaign and some of the difficult and challenging issues this may have raised for them.

I would like to reassure all of you that here at The Children’s Family Trust we remain completely committed to the continued education of all our staff, Carers and their families in providing the very best outcomes for our BAME children.

However, we fully appreciate and acknowledge that there is still much work to be done and more to learn from the current campaign and beyond. As such we will carry on listening and learning in order to ensure our BAME children’s voices are always heard, that they are supported, and are positively represented at all times, in all arenas, now and in the future.

Because here at The CFT, the children are our future………..
