Support Worker – South Central

Our staff are an integral part of our success and due to internal promotion, we are seeking to recruit a Support Worker to join our South Central Team.

The Role

This role includes specific tasks in relation to the management of foster carers, supporting foster carers in their care of children, direct work with children and young people, facilitating and supervising contact between children in care and their birth families, organising events for foster carers and children.   A key part of the role will be responding quickly in times of crisis to support foster carers with the challenges of looked after young people, therefore flexibly will be required.    Completion of written feedback to the  Social Worker within specific timeframes relating to the support visit completed.

Ideal candidates

The successful candidate will have a basic knowledge of the effect of the care system on children/young people,  experience of working with young children and a basic knowledge of foster care practices.   You will be able to work closely and cooperatively with colleagues, have good communication skills, a professional approach to working with children, young people and foster carers, willingness to extending your knowledge and skills and a genuine desire to fulfil the responsibilities of an evolving role.   Travelling is an integral part of this role including transporting children on occasions therefore a full clean driving licence is required.
