What you can expect as a foster carer for The CFT
A person’s motivation to Foster should not be primarily financially led. However at The CFT we recognise that Fostering is a skilled job and we view our Foster Carer’s as professionals. As a result our Foster Carer’s are paid generously and our fees are highly competitive and some of the best across the UK.
Anyone who chooses to become a Foster Carer for The CFT can be assured that they will receive the highest level and support and guidance to help them make a positive impact on a child’s life. CFT Foster Carers can expect:
An Allocated Supervising Social Worker
Every Foster Carer has an allocated Supervising Social Worker who will provide regular Support and Supervision. Where possible Supervising Social Workers remain consistent, meaning that Foster Carers and Supervising Social Workers are able to develop positive and effective working relationships.
Regular Foster Carer Team Meetings
All Foster Carer’s are invited to regular Team Meetings. This provides them with the opportunity to meet with other Foster Carer’s, speak with the Senior Management and staff teams, as well as networking within the Team Meeting.
Regular Social Events & Competitions
The CFT recognises the importance of Families and as such organizes regular social events – giving everyone the opportunity to get together. In addition to this The CFT hosts regular competitions, giving children and young people an opportunity to win great prizes.
24 hour support from our Social Work Team
The CFT offers 24 hour support, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Our Foster Carers are never alone.
The CFT places emphasis upon Foster Carer’s attending regular and ongoing training. This is to support the development of their skills and knowledge base.
Specialist Support and Services where necessary
At The CFT we recognise that the Children and Young People we support, as well as our Foster Carer’s all have individual needs.With this in mind and where necessary, The CFT look to provide the appropriate services and support from external agencies to help children and young people achieve their full potential and to ensure placement stability.
A Foster Carer Handbook
All Foster Carers are provided with comprehensive guidance on the roles and responsibilities of a Foster Carer as well as a copy of all of The CFT’s Policies and Procedures.
Individual membership to Foster Talk
The CFT provides membership to Foster Talk for all approved Foster Carer’s. This provides Foster Carer’s with additional advice (including Legal Advice) and insurance where necessary. Foster Carers also have access to Fosterline. This is a confidential advice line for Foster Carers.
In addition to our regular weekly fee which is paid for each child in placement regardless of the child’s age, our Foster Carer’s receive a generous mileage allowance and 14 nights respite per year, per child. This is calculated on a pro rata basis.
Our allowances and support offered to Foster Carer’s are reviewed annually to ensure that our Benefits Package remains highly competitive.
