Not-for-profit
That means everything we do, in the name of The Children’s Family Trust, must act in the best interests of our society and not to make a profit. Our founder, Paul Field fundamentally agreed that regardless of the stresses he experienced sustaining his own family, he must take action to prevent blameless young children from falling through society’s cracks. He pioneered, with the help of his family, an organisation that stood for – Family for life – providing stability, reliability for children in need.
We continue this legacy with pride, and maintain that having a family for life is the cornerstone of the services we offer; not only for children but extending the community of carers and their own families.
When you work with The Children’s Family Trust, you gain an extended network of like-minded individuals. Joined for the sole purpose of improving the lives of children across the nation.
Our money
The majority of our funding is received as a result of the services we provide to Local Authorities. A smaller amount of income is received from charitable donations and legacies.
Our annual budget takes into consideration the needs of all of the children and young people we care for. We provide funding for additional services including education support and therapeutic services.
Monies are also set aside every year to help support our young people who have reached 18 and beyond who need financial support. In order to establish themselves within the community and workplace, this might include driving lessons, home furnishings, educational fees etc.
Where necessary the Trust uses surplus monies to provide additional support to children and young people. This can be through the use of internal and external services. Examples include tailored and one-on-one therapeutic and educational support.
Support us
Even if you are not currently in the position to foster children, there are many ways you can support The CFT.
The CFT is always keen to hear from anyone who would like to Fundraise for us. Be it a 5km fun run or something more unusual…(skydive anyone?), we will support you to make it happen.
In previous years people have completed a range of fundraising activities including hosting charity dinners and fashion shows. One of our Trustees climbed the three highest peaks in the UK, cycling between them, all in one week.

We are proud of our charitable status and believe in investing in the lives of the children and young people that we care for. This can be challenging but with your support, we can continue to do more of the same.
Leaving a gift to The Children’s Family Trust in your will is another way you can support us. Remembering The CFT in your will is simple, however, it’s best to ensure your wishes are carried out as you intended.

No matter how big or small your contribution is, it will leave a lasting impact and make a huge difference in the lives of the children and young people we support.
- A minimum of 85p in every £1 goes directly to improving our services to both our children and foster carers.
- Some of our charitable reserves are spent supporting children and young people after they have left our care.
Charity partnerships - working together!
The Fairer Fostering Partnership (FFP) is small consortium of charitable and non-profit fostering agencies who work together to eliminate the discrimination that children and young people in care sometimes face. FFP also works to lobby and advocate for children and young people at central government level.
As part of The FFP, our organisation is required to be transparent in the work we do with an emphasis on promoting good practice in networking. Additionally any surplus raised by The CFT is re-invested into supporting children and young people in placement and beyond. This means that for the children and young people The CFT work with are cared for to a high standard, advocated for where necessary and seen as individuals, with their voices heard.
The CFT are also involved with several other organisations. These are inclusive of the Nationwide Association of Fostering Providers (NAFP), The Fostering Network, CoramBAAF and LGBT organisation, New Family Social (NFS).

There are many ways organisations can support our families and care leavers through material donations.
If you are an organisation that can provide furnishings, supplies, computers, toys, comforters – anything that can assist care leavers finding their path or making sure our families are equipped with everything they need to provide a comfortable home for their children, please contact us!
